Advising
External Credit (received from other
institutions)
- Only courses in reasonable conformity with the curriculum of St. John Fisher College and in which a student has earned a grade of “C” or above may transfer. Occasionally a course with a grade below “C” may transfer in as part of the Associate’s degree 60 credit hour guarantee.
- A maximum of 66 credits of transfer credit may be transferred from a Community College, Diploma Nursing School, Proprietary School, examination source (AP, CLEP, IB, Excelsior, etc.) and ACE (American Council on Education) and NYSED (NYS Education Department) recommendations for credit based on study in non-collegiate institutions. There is no limit to the number of credits a student may transfer from a four year institution; however students must comply with the St. John Fisher College residency requirements.
- Once a student begins the last 36 hours of an academic program, only 6 more credits may be accepted in transfer, as long as all other transfer policies have been met.
- Typically, programs allow both lower level and upper level courses to be transferred, but only one-half the courses required for the major may be transferred and some majors may restrict the individual courses to be transferred. Refer to the College Bulletin.
- All courses for a minor may be transferred to the College as long as the transfer courses have appropriate Fisher equivalents.
- Currently enrolled student who wish to take courses at community colleges or any other institution during the summer are strongly encouraged to receive prior approval for the transfer of those courses by completion of the
