Job Postings

Thank you for your interest in recruiting St. John Fisher College students and alumni!

Please submit your job postings in WORD or RTF format to career@sjfc.edu.  (We are unable to post information from faxes).  We post all job openings on our website to give St. John Fisher College students, alumni, faculty and staff access to our password protected system. Our Job Posting Website is no longer open to the public due to its popularity with the general public and the inappropriate disbursement of our site information to the general unemployed public by government representatives.  The job posting system is intended strictly for the benefit of the Fisher family and local employers who are seeking our highly respected students and alumni.

We are happy to post full-time, part-time, internship and seasonal opportunities on our website at no charge to any employer.

It is our policy to post positions we receive within 1 business day and to remove them from our website after 30 days, unless notified by the employer to remove the posting earlier or to retain it for ongoing opportunities.  Employers may verify their postings have been received and posted by contacting Career Services at 385-8050.

Please review the Equal Employment Opportunity Statement below.  In submitting your job posting to St. John Fisher College you agree to be bound by the terms of the statement.  Please contact us at career@sjfc.edu or 385-8050 if you have any questions.

Equal Opportunity Statement

By submitting a position for posting through St. John Fisher Career Services, for full or part-time employment, internships, or summer positions, the employer affirms it follows a policy of non-discrimination consistent with federal and state non-discrimination laws, orders, and regulations and will not discriminate against any person because of race, sex, color, creed, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or status as a disabled or veteran of the Vietnam era.

On-Campus Recruiting

We welcome recruiters who are interested in coming to the college to interview our students and there is no charge for on-campus recruiting. We have 2 methods that you may use to recruit our students on-campus. You may elect to pre-screen resumes or to have open sign ups. In order to participate in our on-campus recruiting program you must sign and return the EEO statement. (Click here to access the EEO statement).

You may also elect to host an information meeting prior to the on-campus recruiting (there may be a small charge for providing refreshments or other services for the information meeting).

Pre-screened resumes (requires 4 weeks notice):

  • You provide us with job posting information about the position(s) you have available plus information about your company as appropriate.
  • We will collect resumes from interested students and e-mail them to you 7-10 days before you are scheduled to recruit.
  • You pre-screen the resumes and let us know which students you would like to interview at least 4 days prior to your recruiting date.
  • We notify selected students and schedule them for interviews.  We will contact the declined candidates and tactfully notify them of your decision not to interview them at this time.
  • You interview the students on-campus.  You will be asked to complete evaluations for each student’s development as appropriate.  If you are unable to attend due to an unforeseen emergency, we ask that you have back-up available to avoid disappointing the students and based on the labor intensive nature of this service we provide.

Open sign ups (requires 3 weeks notice)

  • You provide us with job posting information about the position(s) you have available plus information about your company as appropriate.
  • We have students sign up on a first come first served basis, on pre-determined schedules.
  • You interview the students on-campus.  You will be asked to complete evaluations for each student’s development as appropriate.

To participate, we ask recruiters to give us appropriate notice and schedule their on-campus recruiting by contacting Career Services at 385-8050 and scheduling their recruiting with Laurie Valentino, Assistant Director. We do have targeted recruiting weeks for accounting, management, nursing and education majors, call 385-8050 for more information.

Tables

Several companies and organizations select to have a table outside of the Dining Hall for a number of hours in order to display materials on their companies and talk to students who stop by.  Please call Jean Skuse at 385-8050 to set up a date and time.  We ask that you remain at the table and not go into the dining hall or approach students as they stand in line. We have had to ask companies not to return due to complaints by students of aggressive, uninvited recruiting.

Note:  We welcome organizations that seek to employ our students in full time, part time and internship positions.  We do not welcome organizations that require an initial cash investment into the company in order to become an employee to our job fairs or on-campus recruitment events.  These companies are welcome to have reserve a table outside the Dining Hall, but they may not use this time to sell products.

Spring Career & Internship Fair

Our annual job fair is held is the heart of the campus in the new Campus Center.  Space is limited and the event is popular so get on the invitation list early!  The time will be from 11am to 2pm and of course, we’ll provide a great recruiter brunch and snacks throughout the day. The fair is open to diverse businesses and non-profit organizations but we reserve the right to cap numbers of similar companies in order to ensure diversity of employers for our students. Sign ups are on a first come first served basis. There will be a $50 participation fee to cover expenses. For more information contact Jean Skuse at jskuse@sjfc.edu or 385-8050. Some quotes from March 2007

"I go to quite a few of these every year.  Your students dress well...they ask good questions and at least have some idea what they want to do."

"This is our fourth fair this week and the only one where students seem focused and are much better prepared."

"I told my boss we have to attend the Fisher Fair because they have quality students.  Everyone we have hired so far has been a great worker with a strong work ethic."

VIP Event—Community Appreciation Day at the Buffalo Bills Training Camp

At St. John Fisher College, we value our recruiter relationships and want to show our appreciation.  All recruiters who participate in our Spring Job Fair or recruit on campus will receive an invitation to our VIP Community Appreciation Day event during the Buffalo Bills Training Camp. This invitation only event is scheduled during a Buffalo Bills practice and often enables guests to obtain autographs of their favorite Bills! So plan to come and enjoy a relaxing and fun filled afternoon at St. John Fisher College.
