All students are encouraged to participate in the co-curricular involvement opportunities at St. John Fisher College.  Research has shown that students who get involved are more successful academically and report a higher level of satisfaction with their college experience.

Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA), with offices in the Campus Center, provides a means for expressing student views; improving cultural, social, and physical welfare; and providing a form of government for the supervision of student activities.  All registered full-time students of the College are members of the SGA and pay a mandated student activities fee.   sgaofficers@sjfc.edu

Student Activities Board
The Student Activities Board (SAB) is responsible for major campus programs and social activities.  SAB sponsors a wide range of activities including films, lectures, cultural programs, social events, trips, and major weekend activities.  SAB  will be seeking students to be on planning committees as well as several committee chairs.  First year students are encouraged to apply for these positions.  sab@sjfc.edu

Student Government Assembly
The Assembly works in conjunction with faculty and staff to address campus wide issues and to provide representation for students on college committees. 
A freshman class officer and several other appointed first year students will sit on Assembly.  Applications are made available during the first week of classes.

Student Government Finance Committee
The Finance Committee oversees the usage of the mandatory Student Activity Fee and allocates funds to student organizations. 
Three positions are held for first year students.  Applications are available     during the first week of classes.

Student Government Council of Presidents
The Council of Presidents governs the operations of student organizations and provides a forum to facilitate collaboration among groups and student leaders.  Presidents’ or their designee of each SGA affiliated organization attend the bi-monthly meetings.

Commuter Council
The Commuter Council of SJFC is a socially oriented organization that is designed to meet the needs of commuting students.  The Council strongly encourages student participation and input on social events, college policies, and related matters and serves as an advocate for commuter student concerns.  commutercouncil@sjfc.edu

Class Officers
Every Fisher student is a member of
the class with which he or she enters and/or intends to graduate.  The primary purpose of class officers is to provide opportunities for unity building and support networks.  The students in your particular class are the people with whom you hold common bonds, which will continue beyond your Fisher experience and stay with you as alumni of the College. 

Resident Student Association
RSA is committed to promoting diversity, enriching the residence hall experience, and creating a positive campus community through social and educational programs.  Students living in residence halls will be asked to select representatives during floor meetings in September. rsa@sjfc.edu

Teddi Committee
The Teddi Dance for Love has been a Fisher tradition for over 20 years.  Proceeds of the 24 hour dance marathon benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times.  All students are encouraged to dance.  For the first time this year, first year students may also sit on the planning committee.  Look for information for becoming a part of this group in the beginning of September.  teddi@sjfc.edu

SGA Recognized Clubs and Organizations

Accounting Club—Focuses on a variety of activities in which students interact with professionals in accounting.  Various community service activities are also a part of the club’s scheduled events.  accountingclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Advertising Club—Collegiate Chapter of the American Advertising Federation (CCAAF) promotes student involvement in the field of advertising through interaction with other colleges, the Rochester Advertising Federation, and advertising agencies as a means to developing advertising skills and making connections for internships and employment.  advertisingclubofficers@sjfc.edu

American Studies Club—Dedicated to providing on and off campus events that encompass a wide range of past and present forms of American cultural expression.  americanstudiesclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Anthropology Club-This club complements that activities of the anthropology department through speakers, films, and trips.  The club is designed to help students engage in active learning about anthropology.  anthropologyclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Art Club—This club provides students with an outlet for freedom of expression and artistic endeavors by integrating cultural and artistic ideals.  The group sponsors student art exhibits, murals, and assistance to campus events.  artclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Black Student Union—The purpose of this organization is to provide a forum for students to learn about issues influencing the Black experience, and to explore Black culture and heritage.  Activities include workshops, lectures, and cultural celebrations.  Membership is open to all Fisher students.  blackstudentunionofficers@sjfc.edu

Chemistry Club—Brings together interested undergraduates for chemistry related programs; including speakers, films, and tours.  chemistryclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Chess Club—The Chess Club meets on a regular basis to play chess and hosts tournaments periodically.  chessclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Circle K—The Circle K Club is an affiliate of Circle K International and is sponsored by the Rochester Downtown Kiwanis Club.  The primary purpose of Circle K are to serve both the community and the College through responsible student action, to help make a difference through direct personal service, and to assist in fund raising for charitable organizations.  circlekclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Colleges Against Cancer—CAC is a student coalition dedicated to raising awareness of cancer issues and to raising funds to in research service, and treatment of cancer.  The group works with the American Cancer Society to hold the Relay for Life, Great American Smokeout, and other activities that promote healthy lifestyle choices.  collegesagainstcancerofficers@sjfc.edu

Fisher Players—Fisher Players is open to all students, as well as to faculty and staff, who have an interest in putting on plays, being actors on stage, and/or serving as technical crew behind the scenes.  The Players present a production each semester, including a spring musical.  fisherplayersofficers@sjfc.edu

Fisher Pride Union—The Fisher Pride Union promotes diversity by fostering understanding and tolerance with regard to issues of sexuality and sexual orientation.  FPU provides a safe environment for those with a different sexual orientation, while maintaining educational programs on homophobia, sexual health issues, and lifestyles to the campus.  fisherprideunionofficers@sjfc.edu

Fisher Ski Association—SJFC’s official ski and snowboard club, providing the best skiing & snowboarding in the area.  fisherskiassociation@sjfc.edu

Future Executives Club—Exists to provide students the opportunity to explore careers in corporate and         investment finance.  FEC accomplishes this through networking opportunities, on site informational meetings, and business trips.  futureexecutivesclub@sjfc.edu

Gospel Choir—The Gospel Choir is dedicated to making a joyful noise unto the Lord, and to having a good time while doing it.  Music performed by the choir is in the African-American tradition.  Rehearsals are held once a week and performances are scheduled throughout the school year.  gospelchoirclub@sjfc.edu

Hockey Club—The Hockey Club provides awareness of the sport and provides students with an opportunity to develop sportsmanship through competition in community hockey leagues.  hockeyclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Latino Student Union—The foundation of the Latino Student Union is the Hispanic culture.  The goal of the organization is to make the campus knowledgeable about Hispanic culture in the most positive way through cultural celebrations, workshops, and speakers.  lsuofficers@sjfc.edu

Martial Arts Club—This group promotes leadership and responsibility through the martial arts while gaining knowledge of self     discipline, self defense, and self respect.   martialartsclub@sjfc.edu

Math Club—Math Club promotes awareness of mathematics in a non-academic way by creating a community of knowledge and discussion concerning the field to link students with real world applications and careers.  mathclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Math, Science, & Technology Education Club—This organization unites students and faculty in the field of MSTE to promote better communication and enrich the student’s knowledge and experience.  The club strives to promote high professional standards and career opportunities.  mste@sjfc.edu

Muslim Student Association—MSA works to increase campus awareness about Islam as well as eliminate misconceptions about Muslim culture through the speakers, community service, and cultural celebrations., and other events throughout the year.

Political Science Club—The purpose of the Political Science Club is to enable its members to participate in formal and informal meetings and discussions on current issues, career orientation, graduate opportunities, and related topics.  In addition, the club periodically publishes the political science journal Etiam politicalscienceclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Pre-Law Association—The goal of the Pre-Law Association is to give students a closer look into a career in law.  The Association organizes mock trials and workshops at which law alumni help students become familiar with the LSAT and with law school applications and admissions procedures.  prelawclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Psychology Alliance—The main goal of the Psychology Club is to bring interested undergraduates together for psychology-related programs, lectures, discussions, and trips.  It provides valuable information for students interested in a career in psychology.  psychologyclubofficers@sjfc.edu

Religious Studies Club—This organization works with the Religious Studies department to provide students with opportunities for further discussion and study of theology and religious issues.
