The department's FT-nmr is housed in a separate, temperature controlled room. This instrument was obtained in 1994 using an NSF-ILI grant and is used by our students beginning in Organic Chemistry Lab II. There is a variable temperature controller for analyzing the effects of temperature on samples. The instrument is not a gradient nmr (which means that some of the advanced spectra which take several hours to run must be started in the evenings or over weekends).
