Parking:

In response to the overly congested parking situation affecting both Commuter and Resident Students at Fisher, an outside agency was asked to look into the current parking lots and develop a plan to maximize the current lots in an effort to add spaces. As a result, the agency recently delivered their report to Fisher and within the report is good news for us fellow Commuters!

The plan calls for approximately 50 - 100 additional parking spaces to be added to the commuter lots. This work is scheduled to be complete by the start of the Fall '07 semester.

The new spaces will be added to A, B, and C lots that means that more trees will have to be cut down around the Commuter lots.

This is part of a three year plan to add 250 - 300 spaces for commuter students. This plan also includes additional work to the recently constructed traffic loop around the Fisher campus. The idea around this is to remove the roads that divide the campus and redirect them around Fisher to better emphasize the "community" feel of our school.

Although we have emphasized the impact this plan has on Commuter Students, the overall goal of the plan is to releviate parking problems for both Residents and Commuters. We hope it works!

Unofficially, the words "parking garage" were leaked out at a recent meeting but no additional information about that is available at this time. This would obviously entail a great amount of time and money but could potentially be a great solution to the current Commuter parking situation.

At this time, the Commuter Council is quite satisfied with the plan and with the completion of the Nursing School by the start of the Fall '07 semester, parking problems should be eliminated for the most part. Now we need to start focusing on either repairing or repaving A, B and C lots.
