The smart kid

Countless hours spent on lab reports and studying for organic chemistry exams has paid off for senior Ricky Lonski, who has earned the honor of Dean’s List for the past seven semesters.

Lonski is a double major in History and Biology, with a minor in Chemistry.

He is a self-motivator who works best under pressure. However, he doesn’t recommend others follow in his footsteps and wait until the last minute to complete assignments.

To succeed in a course, Lonski believes that effort and hard work must be put forth.

“I have always been a good student and have always tried hard to keep it going,” Lonski said. “I’m an intensely competitive person, and I need to make sure that my best remains the best.”

Studying is not a favorite pastime for Lonski.

“I would rather do just about anything else. I do prioritize studying though since it is the reason I am at college and what I am paying for,” Lonski said. “Amidst my studies, it is not too hard to find time to workout, play video games or meet girls, even for a science nerd.”

What is his secret to scoring top-notch grades? “Learn to be efficient in everything you do. If you want to have time to have a social life, you’re not going to have time to read your textbook or notes over and over,” Lonkski said. “So dedicate yourself to doing a thorough job and paying attention in class, so that you can learn as much as you can the first time.”

Unbeknownst to some, Fisher rewards students holding down a perfect GPA with a $5 Barnes and Noble gift card and pizza from Papa John’s.  “If you’re going to get a 4.0, don’t do it looking to get rich, but it’s still nice that Fisher gives you something for it,” Lonski said.

Beyond Fisher, Lonski plans to work in a field related to his degrees and attend either a graduate school in biology or pursue an advanced degree in a health related field.

“I just want to find something challenging and rewarding,” Lonski said.
