Fisher prides itself on the diverse traditions that continue on campus each and every year. This past weekend marked one of the longest running celebrations, Little Siblings Weekend.

Coordinated by Resident Student Association (RSA), this event was started to allow the students of Fisher to let their families see what the campus is like in a more comfortable atmosphere and setting. With 90 siblings and relatives in attendance, the event was considered a success by RSA.

“Little siblings weekend was set up for students to bring their younger, curious sibling or relative to campus and see what college life is really like,” RSA president-elect Ashley Toland said. “It is also a bonding experience, since a lot of times ,the distance separating the families are too far to travel in a quick trip.”

The weekend kicked off on April 13 at 4 p.m. followed by dinner. There were many different activities the students and their guests were able to take part in throughout the weekend. On Friday night, a Price is Right Game Night was planned which included all the details except for Bob Barker himself. Plinko, Punch Out and Three Strikes were among the favorites. If a sibling won a game, a raffle ticket was given out, allowing prizes, worth over $500, to be distributed.

Sophomore Kathy Fallon enjoyed the weekend with her nieces and nephew on campus.

”I’m so excited for them to come here,” Fallon said. “They want to know what my life is like at college, and it is the perfect opportunity for them to think about what they want to do in the future regarding college and activities.”

Fallon’s relatives also were  able to see her perform in the spring play as well.  Siblings were also given vouchers by Fisher Players to attend this year’s spring play, Love is Contagious, a romantic comedy.

Many other clubs also collaborated and took the time to showcase all that Fisher has to offer. The Student Activities Board Carnival and Fisherpalooza, put on by the Class of 2009, took place in the Varsity Gym on Saturday afternoon. Bus transportation was provided to Olympic Lanes for students, and their guests enjoyed free food and bowling.

The weekend ended on Sunday with brunch where siblings received a printed T-shirt to commemorate their visit to Fisher.
