Looking for a computer in the library, I came across Lisa Clark, a freshman Nursing major who was talkative and friendly.
As I was wandering through the library after class one afternoon, trying to find an open computer, I excitedly spotted one and began to walk toward it. It turned out that freshman Lisa Clark had similar plans, but her friendly smile and warm personality were a pleasant surprise from the girl to whom I was giving up my computer.
As a nursing major, Clark is a very busy girl. When asked what she wants to after she graduates, she said, “I plan on becoming a nurse practitioner. I want to be able to do more with my education than I would just going to be a nurse.”
Freshman year is generally a difficult period of adjustment for many college students, but Clark seems to be doing a great job at adjusting to the new environment.
Clark, a Penfield native and 2006 HS graduate, plays intramural soccer for St. John Fisher after having played the sport during high school. While at Penfield, she also participated in ski club, art club, Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) and was junior class secretary.
She also enjoys playing the guitar and snowboarding in her free time. She is truly enjoying Fisher thus far, and particularly loves the size.
“I love that it’s such a small school and everyone seems to know each other,” Clark said.
A former volunteer at St. Ann’s (a senior center in the Rochester area), Clark has been busy with her studies lately but plans to visit with the residents sometime soon.
“I watch movies with them and call Bingo,” Clark said. She seems to enjoy it greatly, as she will be making an effort to go back to visit when she has more free time.
Clark has two older sisters who are both nearly 10 years her elder, but because of the age difference she has a niece whom she adores. “My niece just turned 2 in September and her name is Grace,” Clark said.
It seems an interesting parallel that Clark’s niece is named Grace, as Clark has surely graced the Fisher campus with her presence.
