New Year's Resolutions
Notable campus figures set goals for upcoming year

Lose weight and exercise more, some classic New Year's resolutions. Most of us know that we won't get past January, but what if your resolutions affect an entire college campus? How do the big names on campus think Fisher is going to change in 2007. The Student Government Association (SGA). They have big plans to keep students on campus with revamped programs.

President Steve Moscaritolo is spearheading a "less is more" plan for the Fisher community.

"We are going to hold fewer mixers but give each one a bigger budget" Moscaritolo said. "We want to make Fisher night life better by putting more money into fewer events."

SGA is going to be teaming up with Resident Student Association (RSA) to bring back the yoga program in a big way.

"We are doubling the opportunities to go. Two groups will meet opposite each other; one for Pilates and one for yoga,"

SGA Activities Chair Brad Huber said. "Students will have to pay a small fee, but SGA and RSA will cover the rest."

SGA is hoping to amp the school-wide communication with more web boards.

"There will be three new web boards put up similar to the one in Basil lobby. These will help raise school wide awareness for school sponsored events," Moscaritolo said. "The web boards will be located in the Haffey dining hall, Lavery Library, the Cyber Cafe and the one in Basil lobby will also be replaced."

SGA is looking for student help to better their programs.

"We have done school wide surveys to see what issues students are concerned about on campus," Moscaritolo said. "We encourage feedback from students because we want to do what the students want. All of our goals are driven by student feedback."

Bon Appetit General Manager Jim Liebow has some surprises in store for 2007 when it comes to Fisher's food.

"We hope to collaborate with Simply Crepes to do crepes. We have purchased a crepe machine so we want to have a staff member from there come down for a day to help make them" Liebow said.

As for bigger dreams, Liebow hopes to renovate the Fishbowl.

"There was supposed to be a coffee shop in the new Campus Center but that got pulled, so for a year we have been discussing putting something over in the old Fishbowl." Liebow said. "This should be decided over the summer; the only concerns are financial ones."

Athletic Director Bob Ward has high hopes for Fisher athletics in 2007.

"We hope to attract another excellent student/athlete recruiting class," Ward said. He also has his eye on the prize, and sees more championship titles on the horizon.

"We hope to work to build on the success we have been having by striving for more Empire 8 Championships, more

ECAC Championships and more NCAA successes," Ward said.

Don't think it is all about the athletes, because the fans are a big part of Fisher's success.

"We hope to continue to develop our fan base, and also educate this fan base in the areas of sportsmanship and what it is to be a good host," Ward said.

President Donald Bain looks to the growth of Fisher in 2007.

"We will be adding an addition on Basil Hall to accommodate faculty offices," Bain said. This construction will take place over the summer, so no disturbances are expected for students. As for construction already taking place, an end is in sight.

"The Wegmans School of Nursing building will be completed by late August and ready for use at the opening of classes in September," Bain said.

Bain also hopes to "continue progress in diversity initiatives, expand the parking capacity, conclude planning for facilities development, expand support for competitive and recreational athletic programs and assure a balanced budget."

Fisher has had many changes over the last few years and it doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. From campus life to construction, Fisher students can expect Fisher to be ambitious in its 2007 resolutions.
