Rochestarians, we need to have some pride. These kids from the ‘Cuse run around campus in their orange clothing bragging about their dome, while those people from the B-lo keep talking up their Sabres because the Sabres are doing well. But what about us?
We kids from the ROC have plenty to brag about. Think about it. Without the invention of the garbage plate, what would we eat after a night of going out with our friends? Nick Tahou has changed the lives of college students in the Greater Rochester Area.
All those Buffalo students can eat back home is Mighty Taco, which is not bad, but it’s no cheeseburger, mac salad and home fries combo.
How about some dessert? Don’t even get me started on Abbott’s custard! It is a staple of my diet in the summer time. Heck, it could be its own food group. There is nothing like going down to Charlotte Beach, getting some orange pineapple custard and walking the pier. I mean Perry’s and Byrne are ok, but when compared to this fantastic homemade custard, Abbott’s takes the cake.
Then there is George Eastman. Without Eastman Kodak, what would we use to take pictures of our silly antics, a Fuji? My dad would kill me if I ever used a Fuji! I don’t think I could live without my Kodak Easy Share Digital Camera.
What about Wegmans? I mean that is one great grocery store, superior to any other like Tops or Super Wal-Mart. Fresh farm produce and an excellent greeting card selection; what more could I ask for?
Syracuse has their SU basketball and Buffalo has their Sabres and their Bills; however the Bills are not much to brag about. But we have some good talent here, too.
The AHL Rochester Amerks are nothing to wag a finger at. As of Nov. 8, they have a record of 10-1, not too shabby. Do not forget about our Rochester Rhinos! Everyone remembers a good Rhinos corner kick!
All you Rochester kids out there, next time someone asks you where you are from, you tell them with some pride, because we obviously have a lot to be proud of.
