Parking lot expansions necessary
Come one, come all! High school graduates, returning students… we want you! We’ve got classrooms to teach you in, but not enough parking spots for our current students. Don’t worry about driving your vehicle; our Fisher school bus will pick you up at your house!
Is this what it has come to? I believe St John Fisher College is one of the best institutions in the Rochester area. I am very thankful I had the opportunity to become a Fisher student and understand others would like the same opportunity. I just can’t seem to figure out why we continue to recruit more students to Fisher when we can’t even accommodate them? We almost had the issue of holding a lottery to see who would get housing for next year. Thankfully, it didn’t come to that. Everyone’s needs were met. But what about next year, and the years to come?
The parking on this campus is ridiculous. If all the lots are filled and you need to park elsewhere; plan on getting a ticket from security. As a commuter I find this to be an ongoing and increasing problem every semester.
Maybe Fisher should consider different options to contain all of its students’ needs. How about a parking garage? If we can build new facilities for an NFL team why not build a simple parking garage for the students who pay tuition? We obviously don’t have much more land to expand to, but the sky is our limit. It’s a cliché but it’s true. Let’s build up. Maybe we can get the good old Wegmans family to donate some money to help with the additional number of students that will be attending the School of Pharmacy in the fall.
I’m not knocking Fisher, but I really think parking’s a common sense issue. If you build more facilities for classrooms you will eventually need more parking spaces for students attending those classes. Those of us that have taken the operations management course here at Fisher, understand this mathematical formula.
When will the administrators catch on?
