Financial Aid Checklist New Graduate Students
- Apply to college.
- Start a financial aid folder to retain copies of tax returns and aid documents.
- Obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the U.S. Department of Education at www.pin.ed.gov.
- Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov or via paper application.
- Complete the Express TAP application (ETA) online following the FAFSA, or the paper application mailed to you, or at www.tapweb.org.
- Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) for accuracy. If necessary, follow directions on your SAR to correct inaccurate items.
- Receive acceptance letter from college.
- If starting in the summer and taking 6 or more credit hours, complete financial aid request form available in summer course registration booklet, in financial aid office, or at http://home.sjfc.edu/FinancialAid/ and return to financial aid office.
- Receive your financial aid award notice listing estimated aid eligibility. Review any accompanying information and contact the financial aid office with any questions.
- Fulfill admissions deposits by college deadline.
- Promptly respond to any school requests for additional information or documents, such as copies of federal tax returns.
- Notify your financial aid office of any outside scholarships, grants, or other resources you have received or will receive.
- Accept financial aid offered on FishRNet.
- If accepted Stafford loan, complete entrance counseling for Stafford loan.
- If accepted Stafford loan, complete your promissory note for Stafford loan.
- If applying for Graduate PLUS loan, complete promissory note for Graduate PLUS loan.
- Be alert to any billing notices and payment information provided by the Bursar’s Office.
