Financial Aid Programs Undergraduate Financial Aid
Federal Pell Grant
This federal grant is available to students who have demonstrated the
highest calculated need. It is estimated that this award will range
between $400 and $4310 for full-time study. The Expected Family
Contribution (EFC) calculated from the Free Application For Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) determines this award.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG)
This federal grant is awarded to Federal Pell Grant recipients who have demonstrated the highest calculated need. The award will range between $200 to $500.
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
To receive an ACG, a student must receive a Federal Pell Grant during the same award year; be a U.S. Citizen; be a first- or second-year full-time undergraduate student in a degree program at a two-year or four-year degree-granting institution; have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study; and if a first-year student have completed secondary school after January 1, 2006; and if a second-year student have completed secondary school after January 1, 2005 and have at least a 3.0 grade point average as of the end of his or her first academic year of undergraduate study. During an eligible student's first academic year, the maximum award is $750; the maximum ACG award for a student's second academic year is $1,300.
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART Grant)
To receive a National SMART Grant, a student must receive Federal Pell Grant during the same award year; be a U.S. citizen; be a full-time student in his or her third or fourth academic year of an undergraduate degree program; be pursuing a major in physical life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, engineering or a critical foreign language as described in the "Grants" section at
www.fsa4counselors.ed.gov; and have at least a 3.0 grade point average as of the end of the second award year and continue to maintain a 3.0 GPA which must be checked prior to the beginning of each payment period (e.g., semester). An eligible student may receive up to $4,000 a year for his or her third and fourth academic years of undergraduate study.
Federal Perkins Loan
This is a low-interest (5 percent) loan awarded to undergraduate students demonstrating financial need. The award ranges from $200 to $800 per year. The Perkins Loan is interest free while attending school. Repayment begins 9 months after enrollment ceases. You will be notified to sign the Promissory Note once the academic year begins. This loan will show as anticipated credit on your account.
Federal Work-Study
This award provides employment opportunities in various campus offices. Work-Study awards are offered to students with financial need. Students are paid at an hourly rate and receive paychecks every two weeks for the hours worked. Work-Study will not be credited to the student's account. Students are responsible for finding employment on campus. The jobs are posted on the College's career services website,

Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Residents of New York state, may be eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). This grant currently ranges between $275 and $5,000, depending upon the student's level of study, the family's taxable income, and state funding. Qualifying income is determined by the state. The state notifies the student and the Financial Aid Office of the official grant amounts. Our undergraduate school code is 0735.
Part-Time Tuition Assistance Program (PT TAP)
New students – Awarded to matriculated
students who were incoming freshmen Undergraduate students for the
2006-07 academic year or thereafter, enrolled in 3-11 credits. In
addition, students must have been a full-time student, earning 12
credits or more in each of two consecutive terms, and having a C (2.0)
cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) before being considered eligible
for this grant. Students must meet the income requirement of New York
State Net Taxable Income limit of $80,000 (dependent students) or
$10,000 (independent students). Annual award amount is based on the
individual student’s eligibility and prorated based on the number of
credits they are enrolled in. Students must fill out the TAP
application, in addition to the FAFSA form.
Returning Students - Awarded to matriculated

Aid for Part-Time Studies (APTS)

requirements of New York State Net Taxable Income limit of $50,500
(dependent students) or $34,500 (independent students). Annual award
amount $500-$2000, determined by the Financial Aid Office. Application
can be downloaded from the Financial Aid website or picked up in the
office.

SJFC Grants and Scholarships
St. John Fisher College grants and scholarships require full-time enrollment. They are automatically credited to the student's account each year. Grants vary according to financial need. Merit scholarships vary according to program, housing status, and carry a minimum GPA requirement.
Federal Stafford Loan Program
These are low-interest long-term loans available for student's education expenses. The award for a first year student is
up to $3,500. Second year students can receive up to $4,500, and other undergraduates are eligible for $5500.
Dependent students can now also borrow up to an additional $2000 in an
Unsubsidized Stafford Loan. The college will determine eligibility
between Subsidized (no interest accrual) and Unsubsidized (interest
accrual). Additional loan funds are available for borrowers who are independent of parent by Department of Education/FAFSA standards ($6,000 for first-and second-year students, $7,000 for third- and fourth-year students).
Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
Parents or step-parents of a dependent student who is enrolled at least half-time in a degree program may borrow up to the student's cost of attendance, minus any other financial aid.
