
101D, 102D: Western Civilization: Europe and the World Since 1500 (3, 3) A two-semester survey of the major themes and developments in the history of Europe, and the relationship between European civilization and the world.
103D, 104D: The United States Since the Colonial Period (3, 3) The main lines of development in American history from the colonial period to the Civil War (103) and from the Civil War to the recent past (104). Emphasis is given to major themes in political, social, economic, cultural, and diplomatic developments.
106D: Asian Civilization: 1800-2000 (3) An introduction to the history of China and Japan from 1800 to 2000. Themes covered include the breakdown of traditional society, imperialism and colonialism, and the challenge of modernization in a non-Western context.
