Policies
The Writing Center at St. John Fisher College
Undergraduate Tutoring
- Students must bring work to, and be active participants in, their
tutorials. We do not allow students to drop off papers for
proofreading.
- Tutorials are 30 minutes. Students may sign up for a total of
two tutorials per week. Students may sign up for two consecutive
timeslots, which is documented as a single visit.
- All tutorials are documented on a summary sheet. Students
enrolled in one-credit workshops will have their summary sheets sent to
their Learning Community or 199 instructor.
- Tutorials may not exceed one hour.
- Tutors may also be available for walk-in visits.
- Tutors are prohibited from giving opinions about grades.
- Tutors work with writers during all stages of the process.
- All tutees must have a current Fisher ID number with which to log in
and out of Tutortrac.
- Computers are for academic use only.
- Turn cellular phones to a quiet setting.
- Headphones are permitted while studying, as long as it is not
disruptive to others.
Graduate Tutoring
- Tutorials are one hour. Students may sign up for no more than
two appointments per week on the graduate schedule.
- If graduate tutors are unavailable, graduate students may sign up on
the undergraduate schedule for a one-hour session.
- All tutees must have a current Fisher ID number with which to log in
and out of Tutortrac.
- Computers are for academic use only.
- Turn cellular phones to a quiet setting.

disruptive to others.
